Which AI Tools Use SynthID?

Independent information site. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. The official detector is at synthid.com.
As of October 10, 2026, SynthID is used by Google's own AI tools and by partners OpenAI, NVIDIA and Kakao. Apple is announced, and ElevenLabs has been named as committing. Those are the companies whose media the public SynthID Detector is set up to recognize. Content from anyone else can come back clean even when it is AI-made.
Who uses SynthID
| Company | What gets marked | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini text in the app and on the web, plus media from Imagen, Veo and Lyria, and podcast audio from NotebookLM | Live | Google DeepMind, Google blog | |
| OpenAI | Images from ChatGPT, Codex and the API. The Next Web says OpenAI's verification page also checks audio | Live, announced May 2026 | PetaPixel, The Next Web |
| NVIDIA | Videos from the Cosmos preview microservice on build.nvidia.com | Partnership described in Google's May 2025 post | Google blog |
| Kakao | Its Kanana models. Image model Kanana-Kollage and video model Kanana-Kinema from the second half of 2026, starting with the Kanana Template video feature in KakaoTalk | Announced May 20, 2026. Watermarking starts in the second half of 2026 | Kakao press release |
| Apple | Images created and edited with Apple Intelligence | Announced as "coming soon", no date | Engadget, Google |
| ElevenLabs | Audio | Named as having committed to add SynthID. Not listed among the detector's current partners | Engadget |
GetReal Security isn't a generator. Google announced it as a content-verification partner so that detection can reach beyond Google's own tools.
Who doesn't use it, as far as we can tell
- Meta and Microsoft. TBreak reports they use their own watermarking systems.
- Open models run on home hardware. TBreak notes these often add no label at all.
- Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and others. We found no source naming them as SynthID partners. That is not the same as proof they don't mark their output, so test a file instead of assuming.
What "covered" does and doesn't mean
- Not every file. A partner adopting SynthID doesn't mean every output carries the mark. Older content made before adoption may not.
- Not every medium. Kakao's announcement covers images and video, and OpenAI's coverage focuses on images. Text watermarking is Google's, for Gemini.
- Not forever. Partner lists change, and announced plans slip.
How to check whether a tool is covered
- Look at the partner logos on synthid.com.
- Generate a file yourself with that tool and run it through the detector.
- Read the company's own announcement and note the date.
- Remember a clean result on your test file only tells you about that file.
